One of the great promises of hyperspectral (and multispectral) imaging in vineyards, often referred to as precision viticulture, is the opportunity to detect and measure non-visible early disease signals and classify wine grapes not only according to their health status but their specific flavour profiles. In addition to the wide area scanning potential of imaging technologies, we have developed a handheld hyperspectral instrument that can measure the flavour profile of grapes to help unlock the full potential of science for the world’s highly valued wines.
